Will the First Time Home Buyers tax credit be extended?
In this real estate agents humble opinion I would say yes it should be extended.
In an article put out by the Ohio Association of Realtors today they are saying there is a good chance it will be extended until November 2010. Click here to read this article.
They also say that Washington is trying to make the credit for anyone trying to buy a home.
This is just my opinion but this is the kind of Stimulus that I think really works for our local community. Of course I would like to sell more real estate but think about the ripple effect.
Most of the first time home buyers I have spoken to recently are going to use that money for appliances, carpet, and upgrades.
Think of all the money that brings to the communities. New windows, carpet, drapes, furniture, appliances, plumbing upgrades, televisions, roofing, and on and on. All going locally.
It will get the inventory down on all the Foreclosures properties and short sales. The buyers still have to qualify under the "new banking rules" so this is not giving out bad loans to people who do not qualify.
I am a pretty conservative person, but I think this is the type of 'stimulus money' that gives a lot of bang for the buck. It gives immediate local reaction.
Well, I hope it goes through. Contact your local official if you agree.
